Numerical Investigation of the Optimum Angle for Open Channel Junction

Numerous natural and artificial streams, including those for irrigation ditches, wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance structures fish movement, have open channel confluences. The flow dynamics at around the junction are intricate; in particular, immediately downstream of junction, creates a zone separation on inner wall along with secondary recirculation patterns. structure this complicated depends several factors, rates both channels, angle confluence, geometry longitudinal slope bed discordance, roughness boundary, intensity turbulence. It also has significant impact erosion, bank scouring, etc. objective current work is to calculate velocity profile dimensions four angles (30o, 45o, 60o, 75o) through simulation process, best using three-dimensional model. This gives detailed application numerical solution (Finite Volume) via Flow 3D software. Results two discharge ratios, q*=0.250 q*=0.750 were shown; model experimental results agreed well. findings consistent past research demonstrate how main pattern affected by changes crossing angle, as well greater zones produced when ratio q* (main divided total flow) smaller.
